Eyebrow shaping by eyebrow threading

How to define and shape your eyebrows

I want to illustrate to you different techniques of eyebrow shaping in order to bring out that lovely face. The downside to eyebrows is that you can’t hide your eyes under clothes; like you would of your belly fat or your legs. Most of the time, we prefer having someone do our eyebrows rather than doing them ourselves. However, it is very simple once you memorize the steps and practice as often as possible.

If you happen to accidentally pluck your brows excessively, you might have to wait for some time before they can grow thus allowing you to shape them once more. Eyebrow threading is like giving your eyes a lift. There so many ways to remove hair follicle on your eyes like tweezing, threading, sugaring and waxing but today I want to show you how to remove hair by threading. This technique gives the most long lasting result. Please don’t shave your eyebrows; it won’t last long and you could hurt yourself doing this.

You will need to have:

  • Eyebrow brush
  •  Make up remover
  • Thread

First and foremost, using your makeup remover, wipe off make up from your eyes and eyebrows. This will help you to see clearly; especially in the area you need to pluck off hair.

Prepare your thread. Measure the thread with your forearm; they should be equal in length. Then, tie both of the open ends of the thread together to form a circular loop. Use a cotton thread; it is the most suitable material for this technique. If you find that the length is longer than expected, you can cut it to the length of your choice.

Look into the mirror and map out where you need to adjust your brows. Trim the eyebrows that look like they are sticking out of your natural eyebrow line. Brush your eyebrow to see where you need to thread. Make sure that the room is well lit.

Hold the now circular thread with the thumbs on each hand. Twist the thread so that the strings cross each other. It should form an “X” like shape. Use your index finger to expand the ‘X’ shape.
Twist the string for 10 -20 minutes.

The essence of the twist is to nab the eyebrow hair as you twist. This will help you remove that hair you don’t want. If you find that the thread is uncomfortably short or long, start this process again.
Hold your thread above your brows. Twist the shape “<” to where you want to remove the hair on the eyebrow. This shape is used for the right hand of your face. When using “<” on your right side of the face, decrease and increase the distance between the thumb and forefinger to enable you adjust to your thread being too far away or too close to your hair.

Start moving your thumb and finger in an alternating motion; alternating between it being apart and being closer. Ensure there is motion where the thread forms ‘X’ (at the center/where the thread crisscrosses) and start removing the hair using that area. Motion is what removes the hair. To pull out more hair, pull the thread upwards as you open your finger and thumb.

Threading pulls out more hair than tweezing and on top of that, it’s faster than tweezing.

Next time, I will show you how to make a perfect arc on your eyebrows so that you achieve a better look.
Hope you enjoyed this tutorial!
